MY WHY...
When my parents went through the process of digitizing all of our old home videos taken on a VHS camcorder, I realized my why. Through this process, I've seen bits & bobs of my childhood that I never knew existed... they were too long ago to remember.
One of the videos stood out amongst the rest.
3 year old me, leaving my spot at the dinner table to go hug my great-grandmother. I always remember her as being interruptible. Time slowed down when you were with her. She didn't want to be anywhere else but in your presence. She effortlessly paused her conversation, looked down, hugged me back, & kissed me on the forehead.
When I saw this video I felt known. I felt like the truest version of myself & of my great-grandmother (who I was named after!) were being shown... all because my dad decided to pick up the camcorder & capture the goodness. No prompting - an untouched moment that touched my heart 22 years later.
On your wedding day, I encourage you to be interruptible, slow down, & soak in every moment. My greatest desire is that the way I felt when I first saw this video of me & my great-grandmother is how you feel when you view your wedding gallery. I hope you feel fully known & loved.
& who knows, maybe your great-grandchildren will look at your wedding photos & feel something too.
